Description
Every wine from Michel Chapoutier is a stand-out. Here we have a Saint-Joseph Blanc, rare and a treat in itself and pure Marsanne.
Notes from Chapoutier - Appearance: Strong yellow with bright green highlights. Nose: Fresh, with delicate notes of white flowers and white-fleshed fruit (peaches, pears), delicious aromatic notes, underscored by lovely, smooth oakiness. Palate: Fresh and well-balanced on entry, nice volume with delicious, dessert-like notes, mineral tautness and a long lingering finish. Ageing: Ageing for 8 months. During the first two months, the lees are stirred to control and limit oxydation of the wine. 75% of ageing takes place in stainless steel tanks to preserve the wine’s freshness and minerality. The remaining 25% is matured in demi-muids (600l barrels) which gives ”Les Granilites” consistency, power and aromatic complexity.

"All barrel-fermented Marsanne from Tournon's lieu-dit Saint-Joseph, Chapoutier's 2021 Saint-Joseph Les Granits Blanc is another candidate for the appellation's top white wine. Scents of struck match, melon, peach and lime mark the nose, while the palate is medium to full-bodied, plump and succulent. Is there even a touch of botrytis? Long and gently textured, with a silky finish, it's a beauty to drink over the next several years, perhaps longer."
