Description

IN BRIEF
Roger Luquet Pouilly Fuissé Cuvée Terroir is a poised, expressive white Burgundy marrying site clarity with generous texture. Pale gold, it shows pear, baked apple and white peach with acacia and honeysuckle; airing reveals toasted almond, pastry crust and warm spice with crushed stone minerality. Medium plus with a silky texture, white peach, pear and lemon curd are framed by fine phenolic grip and creamy lees-derived brioche, while subtle oak adds vanilla and clove without dominating. Bright acidity keeps the palate lively and focused, finishing saline and long. Approachable now but will gain from short term cellaring. Drink 2026 to 2030. Serve chilled with scallops, lobster, sole meunière, creamy mushroom risotto or roast chicken with thyme and herb jus delicious.

ABOUT THIS WINE
Roger Luquet Pouilly Fuisse Cuvée Terroir is a poised and expressive white Burgundy that celebrates site clarity with a generous textural core. The colour is pale gold with a bright, luminous core. The nose opens with ripe orchard fruit of pear and baked apple, complemented by white peach and a delicate floral lift of acacia and honeysuckle. With gentle airing the bouquet develops to reveal toasted almond, pastry crust and a hint of warm spice from measured oak influence, while an underlying crushed stone minerality gives focus and drive.

On the palate the wine is medium plus in weight with a silky texture and a well balanced structure. Primary flavours of white peach, pear and lemon curd are framed by a fine phenolic grip that adds definition without austerity. Lees contact provides a creamy, almost brioche like mid palate that enhances mouthfeel while preserving fresh acidity, which keeps the profile lively rather than heavy. Subtle oak seasoning contributes vanilla and clove nuances that support the fruit rather than dominate, and a faint herbal note adds complexity on the finish.

Cuvée Terroir shows an admirable balance between richness and precision, making it both immediately appealing and capable of short term cellaring. The 2019 to 2022 vintage character at this domaine tended to produce expressive fruit with ripe phenolics and retained acidity; whichever year is in the bottle will be reflected in the wine's balance between ripeness and freshness.

Approachable now, the wine will reward careful cellaring over the next few years as tertiary notes integrate and the texture refines. Drink 2026 to 2030, peaking 2027 to 2029. Serve well chilled with shellfish such as scallops or lobster, sole meunière, grilled sea bass with lemon and herbs, creamy mushroom risotto or roast chicken with thyme to complement the wine's fruit richness, textural depth and saline minerality. Roger Luquet Pouilly Fuisse Cuvée Terroir is a versatile, food friendly white that pairs varietal charm with terroir driven clarity.

ABOUT ROGER LUQUET
Domaine Luquet is a family owned estate based in Fuissé in the Mâconnais, celebrated for precise, terroir led expressions of Chardonnay from Pouilly Fuisse, Saint Veran, Pouilly Loché, Mâcon Villages and related appellations. The domaine traces its roots to 1878 and has remained in Luquet family hands across generations, combining local knowledge with steady technical refinement to express the warmth and minerality of southern Burgundy.

Ownership and management are now principally led by Patrick Luquet, who runs the domaine and oversees cellar and vineyard operations while acting as the main contact for international sales. Patrick works alongside other family members, including Christine Luquet, and a small skilled team who share responsibility for viticulture, winemaking and commercial affairs. This continuity of family stewardship supports coherent decision making and a consistent house style.

Vineyards are situated on a mix of limestone and clay influenced soils typical of the Mâconnais, with parcels selected for their capacity to give balanced ripeness, freshness and a mineral thread. Vine age varies across holdings and the team applies careful canopy management, yield control and selective hand harvesting to secure optimal phenolic maturity. Attention to soil health and cover cropping is used to promote balanced vigour and long term resilience.

Winemaking under Patrick is pragmatic and site focused. Fruit is handled parcel by parcel with meticulous sorting and gentle pressing. Fermentations are temperature controlled and élevage is generally carried out in stainless steel and large neutral oak vats to preserve varietal clarity, with limited use of new oak for select cuvees to add texture without masking site character. Lees contact is employed judiciously to enhance mouthfeel while maintaining freshness.

The wines from Domaine Luquet typically show citrus, white orchard fruit and floral notes framed by crisp acidity and a chalky mineral finish. They are approachable on release yet develop additional nuance with short to medium term cellaring. Through stable family leadership, attentive vineyard practice and considered cellar work, Patrick Luquet has strengthened the domaine reputation for authentic, well made Mâconnais whites.
