Description

On the banks of the Duero (at 900 metres above sea level), on small parcels of calcareous soils, grow vines of white grapes mixed in with the Tempranillo vines. This variety is called Albillo Mayor and has been planted in these vineyards for as long as anyone can remember. Originally planted as a variety for blending and a dessert for the pickers at harvest time, the Fernández Rivera family saw the potential for this indigenous variety and now produce a tiny amount of award-winning white wine from the fruit.

Typically light and aromatic in style, Albillo Mayor typically comes with a rich mouthfeel and tropical notes. The team have carefully picked their fruit and have worked to bring out the very best in this under appreciated variety, with 9 months in new French, oak barriques on lees.
