Description

This flagship Simpsons’ sparkling wine previously won gold and “Best in Class” at the Champagne and Sparkling Wine World Championships and celebrated its first Non-Vintage release in 2022. Chalklands Classic Cuvée epitomises English elegance, is pale gold in colour and exhibits fresh notes of crisp green apple balanced with nuances of flint.

Chalklands Classic Cuvée NV has recently been poured on board British Airways flights in Club World, marking another wonderful milestone in the Simpsons’ journey thus far.

Created from Estate grown Pinot Noir (45%), Chardonnay (20%) and Pinot Meunier (35%) grapes, this Classic Method Classic Cuvée is the epitome of English elegance. Pale gold in colour, with a delicate mousse, it has a delightfully fresh nose with notes of crisp green apple and flint. These flavours are amplified on the palate, which has linear precision and impressive structure and length.

Harvesting & Vinification
:Crafted from a blend of specially-selected base wines from three exceptional years. During each respective harvest the grapes from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier vines are picked separately over a two-week period. Each variety is then individually fermented using a selection of different yeasts.

Secondary Fermentation & Ageing
:After a series of careful tastings, the base wines from multiple vintages are expertly blended to achieve our signature house style. This specific release contains 20% of reserve wines to deepen complexity. These reserve wines have been aged in neutral barrels to impart a refined, developed character. The blend is carefully filtered, bottled, and prepared for the prise de mousse - the secondary fermentation process. Following bottle fermentation, our Chalklands NV spends between 15 -18 months ageing on yeast lees prior to disgorgement.
