With such intensity of wild strawberries, it would be impossible to confuse this fresh, perfumed wine with much of the second-rate Beaujolais that is sadly still widely available. The quality-focused producers however, of whom Colonge is certainly one, are gradually shifting the 1980s enthusiasm for Beaujolais Nouveau towards the higher-quality village wines.
