We are proud to bring you the new releases from Tua Rita. A darling of the critics, Tua Rita has become one of Tuscany’s most sought-after releases – and rightly so. The boutique approach of Stefano Frascolla and his family, coupled with the dazzling quality of their wines, has cemented Tua Rita as a true cult favourite and icon of the region. The estate’s top wines, Redigaffi and Giusto di Notri, sit effortlessly alongside the world’s Bordeaux-style wines, whilst remaining distinctly Tuscan in character.
Founded in 1984, Tua Rita was instrumental in establishing the ‘cult’ status of the earliest Super Tuscans. Nestled in the ‘metalliferous hills’ of the Maremma in the coastal region of Tuscany, the original plot of 2 hectares has now grown to 30 and Tua Rita have carved out a reputation for being some of the best producers of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot in Tuscany. Today, second generation winemaker Stefano Frascolla continues to push the boundaries of Italian wine, experimenting with new varieties and techniques, and recent releases of these wines are the best they have ever been. Tua Rita is a Tuscan superstar at the top of its game.
Last year, wine critic Ian d’Agata crowned Tua Rita as his ‘Winery of the Year’.
He has also called Redigaffi one of the ‘World’s Best Merlots’, placing it alongside the likes of Petrus, Masseto, and Le Pin. The comparison to Petrus is particularly relevant: winemaker Jean-François Berrouet has visited Tua Rita several times over the last 15 years and helped guide Redigaffi’s evolution. You can see his influence in their use of oak – particularly the tonellerie Darnajou – and the technique of pre-harvests, an initial selection around 3 weeks before full ripeness for extra complexity and balance.
“Coveted heavy-hitters” – Monica Larner, Wine Advocate
CRITIC SCORE "Plenty of berry and chocolate fruit with some subtle hazelnut and spice undertones. Dried flowers, too. Medium-bodied with a pretty core of fruit and a savory, succulent finish. 80% cabernet sauvignon, 10% merlot and 10% cabernet franc. Needs three or four years to mellow, but it’s already very attractive. Drink after 2027." 94 points, James Suckling
