Max Blondelle and his team have an impressive array of vineyards to work with, taking in 38 appellations, including four Grands Crus and 13 Premiers Crus, and five “clos”, two of which form part of the monopole Chanzy vineyard. This collection features top sites in the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits. But the Chanzy name is particularly strong in the Côte Chalonnaise. Within this village Chanzy is the proud possessor of arguably the finest Aligoté vineyard in Burgundy, their monopole site ‘Clos de la Fortune.’
Over recent years Chanzy have invested in securing a sustainable environment for the future. Today, they are one of the few Burgundy producers to achieve Haute Valeur Environnementale Level 3 – the most highly regarded certification for sustainable agriculture in France.
This incredible, and incredibly rare wine is produced from a tiny selection of the oldest vines (60 years of age) planted at the top of the hill in Clos de La Fortune. This vintage is made to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Bouzeron appellation.
A vibrant and very generous Aligoté. The nose is expressive and open, less aromatic than Chanzy’s other Aligotés, with more focus on structure and minerality. Fantastic purity of fruit with lemon sherbet, ginger, spiced apple and white flowers. The finish is long, fresh, and with seamless oak integration. Outstanding.
