Agricola Punica ‘Montessu’ is from the Sulcis region in Southwest Sardinia, born from a high-profile collaboration between the legendary Sebastiano Rosa and the late Giacomo Tachis. This Isola dei Nuraghi IGT is a Mediterranean take on a Bordeaux blend, combining Carignano with Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot.
The 2022 vintage captures the warmth of the Sardinian sun, offering a deep ruby colour and an intense bouquet of blackcurrants, dark cherries, and wild herbs. On the palate, it is full-bodied yet remarkably supple, with silky tannins and a refreshing saline finish characteristic of its coastal terroir. Aged in French oak, it delivers a sophisticated balance of fruit and spice, making it a perfect partner for roasted meats or spicy pasta dishes.

The 2022 Isola dei Nuraghi Montessu is hauntingly dark with a slowly evolving bouquet of cedar shaving, sage, incense and dried black cherry aromas. It’s surprisingly juicy in character yet silken in feel, with depths of ripe red berry fruits complemented by hints of autumnal spice and citrus. A tinge of graphite minerality adds lovely depth as this finishes potent and gently tannic. - Eric Guido.
