Description
Domaine Peter Sichel is the passion project of the esteemed Bordeaux négociant family, revitalised by Peter’s grandson, Alexander, who prioritises environmental stewardship in the secluded Cucugnan valley. The 2022 vintage benefited from the estate’s high-altitude setting at 450 metres, where clay-limestone hills provided a cooling influence during a warm Southern French summer.
Comprising 44% Syrah, 38% Grenache, and 18% Carignan, the Cucuniano was hand-harvested and fermented using 40% whole clusters and native yeasts. Aged for nine months in 500L barrels and concrete tanks, the wine reveals fragrant wild strawberry and scrubland herbs. On the palate, it displays an elegant structure with refreshing roundness and fine tannins. This is a sophisticated, terroir-driven red with excellent potential for further development.

JAMES SUCKLING 90 points
This southern French red has striking aromas of dried Mediterranean herbs, candied oranges and dried cherries, plus a surprising lightness of touch. I like the self-confidently dry, elegant tannins on the medium-bodied palate. Harmonious and slightly savory finish. A cuvee of syrah, grenache and carignan from organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.
