91-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - "The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Coeur du Roy is also showing very well, bursting with aromas of cassis, black cherries, dark chocolate, smoked meats, licorice and rich loamy soil. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, ample and voluminous, with an enveloping core of fruit, powdery tannins and a long, lingering finish. This is one cuvée where the better-integrated barrel régime and lighter touch with extraction really make themselves felt, and readers might wish to think of this year's Coeur du Roy as a baby Charmes-Chambertin. As usual, it derives from vines between 50 and 109 years of age located in the lieux-dits Epointures, Combe du Dessus, Jouise and Les Marchais. It was vinified with around 50% whole cluster (10% more than 2017) and matured in 50% new oak (10% less than 2017)."
