Vina Izadi is based in Villabuena in Rioja Alavesa, the highest part of Rioja. It was founded in 1987 by Gonzalo Anton in an effort to ‘satisfy the needs of our friends over a meal’ as they put it. This has clearly gone from strength to strength as the wines they now produce are really modern wines in an international style, but which remain true to their Riojan roots.
This is a cracking modern Rioja, combining the dark fruit of the Tempranillo grape with the spicy oak that marks out the best Rioja. This wine displays beautiful black and red fruits with delicate hints of tobacco, liquorice and savoury earthy notes. The full bodied palate is rich and concentrated on a long finish.
