Description
Xavier Vignon, a Picardy native, honed his expertise worldwide before settling in the Rhône Valley in 1996, earning a solid reputation for reflecting the region's authentic character. His ‘Original’ Côtes du Rhône AOC Vieilles-Vignes 2020, from organically grown grapes, embodies this philosophy, with cellar masters keeping interventions to a minimum.
Pouring a deep, inviting ruby red, this old vine expression offers a spicy nose with a slew of red-fruit aromas – think juicy cherries and blackberries – intertwined with classic garrigue. On the palate, it’s full-bodied and lively, boasting a lovely, creamy texture. Concentrated fruit flavours are supported by fine, well-integrated tannins and refreshing acidity, leading to a long, supple, and savoury finish. Awarded 92 points by James Suckling, this versatile wine is perfect with roasted meats or mature cheeses.
50% Grenache, 40% Mourvèdre, 10% Cinsault and Syrah.
