Description
From one of Alsace’s most historic and steepest terroirs. Located directly behind the Trimbach winery in Ribeauvillé, this small, south-facing site consists of limestone and sandstone soils that imbue the wine with remarkable energy. In the warm 2018 vintage, Trimbach’s signature dry style provides a necessary counterpoint to the season's natural richness, resulting in a wine of immense power and poise.
The nose is complex and taut, offering aromas of white peach, lemon confit, and crushed stones. On the palate, it is full-bodied and vertical, driven by a laser-like acidity and a deep, saline minerality. While approachable now for its fruit intensity, this Grand Cru is built for decades of evolution.

JAMES SUCKLING 96 points
Very complex, with a kaleidoscopic mix of youthful and maturing aromas, plus an intense tarragon character that doesn’t neatly fit in either of those characters. Quite some chopped-almond richness on the concentrated, medium- to full-bodied palate. However, the most extraordinary thing about this wine is the enormous, stony minerality that washes over you at the extremely long finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

From 45-year-old vines in a southwest-facing, vertically lined 2.66-hectare plot, the 2019 Riesling Grand Cru Geisberg is very clear and coolish, even herbal and floral on the intense and finely concentrated nose. Full-bodied and quite rich in texture, this is a very intense, powerful and sustainable, firmly structured Geisberg with an aristocratic, Protestant character. The wine is pure and saline on the finish and herbal again, very intense, long and saline. This is a long-distance runner and a great wine! 14% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in April 2024.
