Description
Dom Pérignon Rosé 2010 is a vintage Champagne defined by a highly challenging growing season. The year experienced a cold winter and a dry spring, followed by heavy rains in August that severely threatened the Pinot Noir harvest. In response, the winemaking team enacted a rigorous selection process, sacrificing a significant portion of the crop to utilise only the healthiest grapes. The resulting blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay reflects this exacting approach, spending over a decade maturing on its lees prior to release.
Pouring a deep, luminous copper-pink, the wine offers a complex and evolving aromatic profile. Initial notes of wild strawberry, raspberry, and rose petals transition into darker, more savoury aromas of white pepper, nutmeg, and a hint of wood smoke.
On the palate, it is full-bodied, structured, and notably intense. The generous red berry flavours are balanced by a firm, chalky grip and bright, persistent acidity. It possesses a saline, slightly botanical edge that leads into a long, precise finish. Given its weight and savoury characteristics, this Rosé is best served alongside food, pairing particularly well with spiced duck breast, saffron-infused seafood dishes, or roasted lobster.
JAMES SUCKLING 99 points/100
Aromas and flavors of complex potpourri as well as sliced strawberries, iron and terra-cotta. Some beeswax, stems and flower petals as well. It's medium-bodied and transparent, refined phenolics giving it length and finesse. Polished and delicate finish. You can feel the superb quality of the pinot noir (56%) with 44% chardonnay. The 2010 Dom Pérignon Rosé is airy, tense and wonderfully crystalline, as it has always been. Chalk, white pepper, slate and finely chiseled fruit are the signatures. The 2010 is a svelte, nervy Dom Pérignon Rosé, a Champagne that impresses more with persistence and focus than with obvious size or weight.

Drink Date: 2026 - 2038
Born from rigorous selection in a botrytis-pressured year, the 2010 Dom Pérignon Rosé is composed of 44% Chardonnay—sourced predominantly from Chouilly, Cramant and Avize—and 56% Pinot Noir, with the latter largely drawn from Verzenay, Mareuil-sur-Aÿ and Hautvillers. Eleven percent of the Pinot Noir was vinified as red wine, lending the wine its color, aromatic lift and textural nuance. Disgorged in March 2024 with a dosage of five grams per liter, it unfurls from the glass with aromas of bitter orange, wild raspberry and fresh strawberry, mingled with nuances of rooibos, Timut pepper and charred, buttered toast. On the palate, the wine is medium- to full-bodied, muscular and vinous, built around a rich yet vibrant core of fruit, complemented by structuring phenolics that impart its bitter qualities. Ample and textural, this is a commendable effort in a challenging Champagne vintage.
