Description
Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste 2025 continues the estate’s reputation for producing some of the most consistent and traditional wines in Pauillac. As a 5ème Grand Cru Classé that frequently outperforms its classification, this vintage is characterised by its poise and structural integrity. The 2025 release reveals an aromatic profile rich in blackcurrants, violets, and subtle pencil shaving notes, typical of its high Cabernet Sauvignon content.
On the palate, the wine is defined by its aristocratic structure, offering a dense core of dark fruit supported by fine, architectural tannins. The balance between ripeness and fresh acidity is remarkable, ensuring a long and focused finish. True to the Borie family style, this vintage avoids excess, focusing instead on elegance and terroir expression. It remains a quintessential Pauillac, built for significant ageing.
"For nearly half a century, Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste has been shaped by the vision and consistency of the Borie family, who restored the estate to the front rank of Pauillac after its acquisition in 1978. Under the direction of François-Xavier Borie, the property has remained deeply committed to a classical interpretation of the appellation, favouring balance, precision and ageing potential over excess or extraction. The vineyard, superbly situated on the deep gravel soils surrounding the château, is planted predominantly with Cabernet Sauvignon, giving the wines their hallmark structure, freshness and unmistakable Pauillac identity. Across recent vintages, Grand-Puy-Lacoste has earned admiration for the remarkable regularity of its style: refined, structured and always transparent to its terroir. The 2025 vintage follows this lineage with confidence and restraint. Notes of cassis, graphite and cedar lead into a focused, vibrant palate supported by finely sculpted tannins and precise freshness. Classical and beautifully balanced, Grand-Puy-Lacoste 2025 perfectly reflects the estate’s hallmark elegance and Pauillac identity." Antoine Cathelineau - Sales Director - DIVA Bordeaux
