Description
Like most of Bibi Graetz’s wines, the name is very evocative: Casamatta Rosso reflects the freshness, transparency and strength of red berries of Sangiovese. The “little Testamatta” is entirely vinified in stainless steel to preserve its playful and vibrant character.
Bibi said: "This is a real Renaissance of our Casamatta as a “little Testamatta”. The image of the perfect elegance and freshness of Sangiovese in which the grapes of our vineyards in Fiesole come together and create a pleasant wine with fine and elegant tannins, and an explosion of red berries on the palate.”

I love the aromas of orange peel, rose petals and sour cherries. Light- to medium-bodied with crunchy fruit and a crisp finish. Tangy. From hillside vineyards around Florence. 100% sangiovese. Drink now.

Originally, Casamatta was a high production wine hitting around half a million bottles per vintage, but in recent years it has been massively dialled down to just 30,000 bottles in order to focus on quality. Slightly creamy and silky, the 2023 features some orange peel and coffee notes alongside crunchy cherry and fresh herbs. Emergy, sapidity and succulence are in abundance here. Delicious!

The 2023 Rosso Casamatta entices with a burst of spiced orange peels, cedar shavings and crushed cherries. It is juicy to the core, with cool-toned acidity and crisp wild berry fruits, all guided by vibrant acidity. It tapers off classically dry, with a subtle mineral crunchiness that keeps the palate aching for another sip. This high-energy Casamatta Rosso captures the freshness of the season beautifully.

The Bibi Graetz 2023 Casamatta Poderi di Fiesole is all Sangiovese, with sweetness and some ripeness that reminds me of strawberry cobbler. You also get blue flower and scorched earth. The wine remains primary and fresh and offers a soft texture enhanced by more raspberry and cherry to close. This is a larger production of 20,000 bottles.
