Description
Castello del Trebbio is a proper piece of Tuscan history, and its 2023 Chianti Superiore is a fantastic example of a traditional red made with a modern touch. Produced at a beautiful thirteenth-century castle just outside Florence, this wine is predominantly Sangiovese and really captures the bright and sunny character of the region.
In the glass, it shows a lovely ruby colour. You get plenty of fresh red cherries and wild strawberries on the nose, followed by a subtle hint of dried herbs and violets. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and wonderfully balanced, with a zesty acidity that makes it very food-friendly. It is an honest and soulful wine that feels light on its feet but has enough structure to handle a proper pasta dish or grilled meats.
