Chateau Clinet 2018 is a concentrated, sumptuous Pomerol marrying plush Merlot fruit with poised structure and noble terroir clarity. Deep ruby with a vivid core, it aromas ripe black cherry, plum and bramble with violet and a hint of redcurrant; airing reveals cigar box, polished cedar, sous bois and a fine graphite mineral thread. Medium plus to full bodied, the palate is velvety with finely grained tannins supporting black cherry, damson and plum alongside olive tapenade, smoked meat and subtle soy reduction. Oak brings clove and toasted spice with discreet dark chocolate. Bright acidity lends lift while a saline mineral seam and savoury persistence carry the long finish. Approachable with decanting; will cellar well.

Approachable now with gentle decanting, the 2018 will also reward medium term cellaring as tertiary notes of leather, truffle and forest floor integrate further. Drink 2026 to 2045, peaking 2028 to 2036. Match with roast or braised lamb, duck breast with a red fruit reduction, fillet of beef, mushroom and truffle risotto, mature hard cheeses or rich charcuterie to complement the wine’s ripe fruit, savoury depth and refined tannic frame.
