Description
Comte de Malartic is the superb second wine of the esteemed Chateau Malartic Lagraviere, a renowned Grand Cru Classe located in the prestigious Pessac Leognan appellation. The 2019 vintage offers an incredibly accessible yet highly refined expression of this famous estate, providing immense drinking pleasure.
Crafted from a meticulous blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grown on exceptional gravel soils, this gorgeous red wine pours a deep ruby colour. The nose is wonderfully expressive, bursting with inviting aromas of ripe blackberries, juicy cassis, and delicate hints of cedar and subtle spice. On the palate, it is beautifully balanced and elegantly structured, showcasing supple tannins and a smooth texture. This brilliant Bordeaux pairs perfectly with roast lamb, beef, or mature cheeses.
VINOUS 90 points/100
Drinking window: 2023 - 2032
The 2019 Le Comte de Malartic (hitherto La Réserve de Malartic Blanc) offers Granny Smith apples, lime and petrichor scents on the nose, neutral at first but gaining more personality with aeration. The palate is well balanced and fresh, with a fine bead of acidity and a touch of pineapple toward the finish. Taut and linear, this will drink well for the next decade.
