Emerging from the sun drenched slopes of the Cote Brune this enchanting blend of Syrah and a delicate touch of Viognier delivers an experience of pure elegance and sensual grace. The intensely captivating bouquet weaves together vibrant threads of wild blackberry and dark cherry seamlessly flowing into exotic spices and the beautiful floral perfume of crushed violets. As the liquid graces the palate an incredibly silky and voluptuous texture coats the mouth revealing profound layers of dark fruit and liquorice beautifully balanced by remarkably fine and seamless tannins. The lavish maturation in new oak barrels imparts gentle whispers of sweet vanilla and roasted coffee that carry elegantly into a breathtakingly long and harmonious finish destined for magnificent cellar ageing.

THE WINE ADVOCATE - 97+ Points

"A common refrain regarding the La-Las is that they require a decade or more of cellaring to come around. In fact, they're often quite open and appealing soon after release, only to close down shortly thereafter. The 2017 Cote Rotie La Turque offers up hints of crushed stone and struck flint, smoky, bacon-fat aromas and ripe, mouthwatering blackberries. Full-bodied, creamy and rich, it's a powerful, concentrated effort that should still be drinking well in two decades."

VINOUS - 97 Points

"Opaque ruby. Displays seductively perfumed aromas of ripe, mineral-drenched black and blue fruits, incense, potpourri and exotic spices. Sweet, gently chewy and penetrating in the mouth, offering sappy blueberry, cherry-cola and floral pastille flavors, with smoky mineral and vanilla nuances. Shockingly lithe for its depth, this finishes wonderfully long and juicy, with velvety tannins sneaking in late."

DECANTER - 97 Points

"La Turque is situated on a central part of Côte Brune, occupying less than 1ha, and was planted by Marcel Guigal in 1980 (first vintage in 1985) after having been abandoned since 1935. They claim the mica schist and iron oxide in the soil contribute to the strong tannins compared to La Mouline. This has intense fruit of searching depth - a deep cave of a wine - with incense, star anise and dried rose all echoing. Lashings of toasty oak spice appear on the finish, which is extremely long and resonant. The extraction is pushed as far as it can reasonably go, but the wine is well balanced with a firm beam of acidity, considerable internal sweetness of fruit, and a thick mass of ripe tannin. It will live longer than La Mouline, but not as long as La Landonne."
