Description
The GLENELLY Lady May 2019 is the flagship estate Bordeaux-style red blend produced by Glenelly Estate in Stellenbosch, South Africa. Named in honor of the estate's legendary founder, May de Lencquesaing (the former owner of Bordeaux’s iconic Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande), this vintage marks a transition out of South Africa's severe drought years, resulting in a fresh, vertical, and beautifully balanced profile.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Aromas of rich dark berries, plum, and black currant blended with distinct notes of graphite, pencil shavings, rose, mocha, tobacco, and cedar.
Palate: Medium-to-full body with a sleeker, fresher, and more pure-fruited entry compared to previous warmer vintages. It features powdery, elegantly chalky tannins and a long, structured finish carrying a touch of salinity.
Drinking Window: Ready to drink now (from 2025 onwards), with excellent cellaring potential to age gracefully through 2030–2035.
