Kanonkop is widely regarded as the "First Growth" of South Africa, and their 2023 Estate Pinotage is a definitive example of why this estate leads the way with the variety. Grown on the lower slopes of the Simonsberg Mountain in Stellenbosch, the grapes come from mature bush vines (up to 69 years old) that produce fruit with remarkable depth and concentration.
The wine shows a deep purple hue and opens with a complex nose of ripe plums, black cherries, and a hint of wild bramble, neatly layered with sweet spice from French oak.
