Description
The M. Chapoutier Cornas Temenos 2020 is a profound expression of Syrah sourced from the iconic, granite-rich slopes of the Cornas appellation in the Northern Rhône. Produced by the esteemed Maison Chapoutier, known for its biodynamic approach, this wine undergoes meticulous vinification designed to capture the raw character of the terroir. On the nose, it reveals a brooding, complex aromatic profile featuring graphite, black fruit jelly, and dried herbs like bay leaf, complemented by nuanced hints of cedar. The palate is broad and powerful, showcasing concentrated dark fruit flavors, savory notes of roasted meat, and firm, yet integrated tannins that suggest excellent ageing potential. This intense, structural wine is awarded 93 points by Wine Advocate.

VINOUS - 92-94 Points
"Inky magenta. Expansive, spice-accented aromas of black and blue fruit preserves, incense, smoked meat and potpourri. Offers lively, appealingly sweet blueberry, cherry-vanilla, fruitcake and floral pastille flavors that show very good depth and spicy lift. Closes long and energetic, with smooth tannins that frame lingering blue fruit and floral notes. Made from purchased fruit grown in Saint-Pierre and Reynard."

THE WINE ADVOCATE - 93 Points
"The 2020 Cornas Temenos is a ripe, richly fruited effort, loaded with dark, plummy fruit and a vanilla-coating of classy French oak. Full-bodied and supple—almost creamy in texture—it finishes with a rich wave of velvety tannins. If there's any critique of this wine it's that it's somewhat too New World-ish. It's a blend of fruit from the company's own vineyards and purchased grapes."
