Description
Les Pagodes de Cos 2019 serves as a sophisticated introduction to the Grand Vin of Château Cos d’Estournel. Produced in the northern reaches of the Médoc within the Saint-Estèphe appellation, the wine benefits from the estate's prime location on a south-facing gravel ridge. The unique clay-heavy subsoil was particularly advantageous during the warm 2019 growing season, helping to maintain moisture and ensuring the fruit reached optimal maturity without stress.
The 2019 vintage is celebrated for its remarkable balance, combining the concentration of a warm year with a classical, fresh structure. This blend consists of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Petit Verdot. The resulting wine reveals an expressive bouquet of blackberries, crème de cassis, and redcurrants, intertwined with delicate notes of Earl Grey tea, cedar, and exotic spices.
On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied and characterised by fine-grained, silky tannins and a refreshing mineral core. It offers a sense of elegance and poise, leading to a long, perfumed finish. While it shows beautifully in its youth due to its vibrant fruit, its impeccable balance and structured backbone ensure it will age gracefully for many years. It remains a definitive expression of Saint-Estèphe refinement.

This is very spicy and linear with fine tannins that run the length of the wine. It’s medium-bodied with freshness and lovely length. Very classic in style. Closed at the end. Drink after 2025.

Plump blackberry fruits, velvety texture and evident tannins. An excellent wine that has sapidity and punch - a great combination that makes this extremely successful. 4% Petit Verdot completes the blend.
