Situated high on the northern slopes of Sicily's Mount Etna, Pietradolce is a boutique winery celebrated for its profound expressions of volcanic terroir. Their 2024 Etna Rosso DOC is crafted exclusively from Nerello Mascalese, the indigenous flagship grape of the region, grown in stony, mineral-rich volcanic soils at altitudes reaching up to 800 metres above sea level. This unique alpine-meets-Mediterranean microclimate imparts incredible elegance, tension, and complexity to the wine.

In the glass, the 2024 vintage presents a vibrant ruby red colour. The nose is highly aromatic and evocative, offering fragrant notes of crushed red cherry, wild strawberry, and dried herbs, all underpinned by a distinct, smoky ash and graphite minerality that speaks directly to its volcanic origins. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and beautifully structured, showcasing fine-grained tannins and a bright, refreshing acidity. Layers of crunchy red fruit and wild Mediterranean scrub lead to a long, savoury finish. Often compared to fine red Burgundy or Nebbiolo due to its grace and structure, this Etna Rosso is incredibly versatile. It is the perfect accompaniment to roasted meats, wild mushroom risotto, or flavourful charcuterie boards.
