Tenuta Guado al Tasso’s ‘Cont’Ugo’ is produced in the prestigious Bolgheri DOC of Tuscany. This wine is crafted entirely from Merlot grapes, sourced from vineyards situated at the base of the Bolgheri amphitheatre, where the silt and clay soils provide an ideal environment for this variety. The 2022 vintage reflects the region's Mediterranean climate, offering a profile defined by ripe red fruits, plums, and hints of spice.
The wine undergoes fermentation in stainless steel before ageing in French oak barrels for approximately twelve months. This process results in a structured yet approachable character, featuring silky tannins and a vibrant freshness. The palate displays concentrated flavours of raspberries and black cherries, leading to a long, persistent finish. With its balanced acidity and depth, it pairs excellently with grilled meats or savoury stews.
