Description
Driven by a vision to harness the Rhone Valley's profound terroirs, Xavier Vignon, widely regarded as one of its most modern and inspiring winemakers, launched his own label in 2002. Today, his 35-hectare estate is a vibrant testament to his approach, producing exceptional wines from local varietals that truly sing of their origin.
His acclaimed Châteauneuf-du-Pape, a testament to this philosophy, draws its complexity from a masterful blend predominantly of Grenache, enriched by Mourvèdre, Syrah, and Clairette. These grapes are meticulously selected from 40 diverse plots, each contributing unique character from soils ranging from limestone and red sandstone to the famed galets roulés
This precise approach extends to vinification, where each variety is handled individually across stainless steel, concrete, and truncated tanks, culminating in over a year of careful ageing in steel, terracotta, and wood, creating wines of profound depth and expression.

The 2022 Chateauneuf du Pape from Xavier Vignon, a blend of 70% Grenache Noir, 20% Mourvèdre and 10% Syrah, displays a spicy, ripe bouquet of dark berries, garrigue, thyme and licorice. Medium-bodied, concentrated and dense, it has a fleshy mid-palate with structured tannins and a long, dense finish. This is a rather muscular, ripe but well-executed Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
