Description
Yann Chave produces an exceptional expression of Syrah with his Hermitage Rouge 2020. Sourced from the legendary Beaume vineyard in the Northern Rhone, this magnificent wine showcases the sheer power and elegance of the appellation. The 2020 vintage pours an intense deep ruby and immediately captivates the senses.
On the nose, it delivers a complex and highly aromatic bouquet of crushed blackberries, dark plums, and signature notes of black pepper, liquorice, and tapenade. The palate is incredibly rich and full bodied, framed by wonderfully velvety tannins and a vibrant acidity that ensures perfect balance. It culminates in a deeply satisfying, long, and spicy finish. This outstanding Hermitage pairs brilliantly with roasted venison, slow cooked beef, or mature cheeses.

Introverted on the nose, but smooth and bold on the palate. A little more generosity and weight than some Hermitage this year, also slightly higher alcohol. Harmonious, with good acidity and integrated oak, it is detailed and defined on the palate. A large-framed but calm and collected wine with a good sense of purity and typicity, this is a serious Hermitage. Vines of nearly 50 years of age, grown organically on lieux-dits Beaumes and Péléat, matured in demi-muids with malolactic fermentation in barrel.

Saturated violet color. Highly fragrant black and blue fruits, incense, vanilla, exotic spices and a strong violet note on the expressive nose, along with smoky mineral and olive nuances that emerge with air. Sappy, penetrating and animated on the palate, showing impressive depth and delineation to its sweet boysenberry, cherry liqueur, salty olive, allspice and floral pastille flavors. At once rich and lively in character, finishing with impressive power, youthfully gripping tannins and lingering spice, mineral and floral notes. Aged in new, 600 liter oak barrels.

A rather poised Hermitage with a pronounced nose of dark berries, raw cocoa, smoke, dried thyme, bark and baking spices. Medium to full body with fine, firm tannins. It’s serious and focused yet it has a velvety texture caressing the palate. Suave with controlled power. Long finish. From organically grown grapes. Drinkable now, but best from 2027.
