"In Bibi’s latest cabinet reshuffle, he has turned his attention to the whites, with Testamatta Bianco the new flagship. This is the best white Bibi has made, and comprises the greatest parcels of fruit from the island of Giglio. Ansonica is still very much the key, delivering true island personality, with small amounts of Vermentino and Trebbiano playing supporting roles. Whilst this may have leaned towards the esoteric side of things in the past, the new Testamatta Bianco is utterly delicious – filled with fresh, pithy lemon skin, grapefruit and sweet Asian pear. Racy and refreshing but with a reassuring mid palate weight. The wine spends 6 months on lees, with 50% blend spending a brief passage in old oak for added textural complexity.
