Description
Clos des Lunes is the visionary Sauternes project of Olivier Bernard and the Domaine de Chevalier team, dedicated to crafting world-class dry white wines from the region's exceptional terroir. The 2025 vintage benefited from a dry, sunny summer and cooling nights, yielding fruit with remarkable aromatic concentration and a vibrant, preserving acidity.
This magnum of Lune d'Argent, a blend of 70% Sémillon and 30% Sauvignon Blanc, reveals a sophisticated bouquet of white peach, citrus zest, and acacia honey, underpinned by a distinct mineral freshness. On the palate, it delivers a rich yet focused experience; the Sémillon provides a luscious, waxy texture, while the Sauvignon Blanc adds a zesty, energetic lift. The finish is long and elegant, showcasing a profound balance that is amplified in this larger format.

Tasted at the estate on another occassion and both times this wine proved deliciously opulent with plenty of acidity for balance: Let's say peachy and green apple freshness. The palate has citrus charm sans any flat aspects one might expect from the hot and dry summer weather, reflecting the common refrain that the small grapes concentrated acidity - with a low pH of 3.22 - just as they did ripeness. For me, the wine qaulity punches way above the cost.

Lovely salty character with crunch and freshness. Agile and vivid. Medium-bodied with bright acidity and a succulent finish.

The 2025 Lune d'Argent, a blend of 70% Sémillon and 30% Sauvignon Blanc that was harvested between August 21 and September 19, reveals aromas of pear, white peach, anise and spring flowers. Medium-bodied, juicy and round, it’s elegant and well balanced, offering a supple, approachable profile. It's a great value.
