Brothers Richard and Stéphane Martin are crafting some of the most delightfully, crystalline-pure wines in the Mâconnais from their 25 hectares of organic vineyards around Davayé. Their Saint-Véran 'La Grande Bruyère' is a brilliant testament to this meticulous approach. It originates from a tiny, east-facing 1.5-hectare plot situated just between the Pouilly-Fuissé and Saint-Véran AOCs. Here, 50-year-old vines are deeply rooted in Marne soils rich in silex, a terroir that imparts exceptional tension and depth.

The 2024 vintage was matured for 10 months in foudre, a gentle ageing process that adds structural complexity while preserving the wine's purity. In the glass, it reveals a luminous pale yellow-gold colour. The well-focused bouquet is highly aromatic, offering vibrant exotic fruit aromas intertwined with captivating smoky, mineral, and slightly spicy notes.

On the palate, this Chardonnay is beautifully textured and impeccably structured. It showcases a fine minerality and distinct white pepper flavours that mingle seamlessly with the core of rich fruit. A vibrant, driving acidity frames the wine beautifully, leading to an impressive, well-balanced length that serves as a perfect reflection of its distinguished Burgundian origins.
