Description
Benefizio Riserva recounts the history of Chardonnay in Tuscany. This grape variety was first introduced to Castello di Pomino’s vineyards in 1855, and the estate's dedication to quality was quickly recognised when it won a gold medal at the 1878 Paris Expo. The Benefizio we know today was born in 1973 from a high-altitude vineyard sitting 700 metres above sea level, making history as the first white wine in Italy to be fermented in barriques. Later, with the 2005 harvest, it officially acquired the prestigious “Riserva” title.
The 2024 vintage continues this pioneering legacy, defined by its elegance, expressiveness, and body. In the glass, it reveals an inviting nose of crisp green apple, white peach, and citrus peel, mingled with soft floral hints of chamomile and acacia.
Thanks to its time in French oak, these fresh fruit aromas are beautifully underpinned by warming layers of vanilla, toasted hazelnut, and gentle baking spice. On the palate, it is broad, creamy, and deeply textured. However, that signature mountain freshness cuts right through the richness, keeping the wine focused and perfectly balanced. The finish is long and gently savoury, leaving a satisfying trail of citrus and toasted almond.
