Description

The Girards are one of the oldest winemaking families in the village of Savigny-Lès-Beaune and produce gloriously aromatic, fruity Savigny. Jean-Jacques and his son Vincent use a combination of modern and traditional techniques to produce wines of great purity and elegance. The reds are delicious, accessible wines that are fantastic to drink when young but also have great ageing potential. The whites have benefited since the construction of a new winery in 2014, which allows them to be fermented in their own separate temperature-controlled cellar.



From a climat just across the valley from Corton-Charlemagne. The stony soil gives a crisp, mineral edge to the wine that also packs a rich, generous flavour. Half the juice is fermented and aged in 500-litre new oak casks from Tonnellerie Cadus and half in stainless steel vats. The resultant wine is a beautiful combination of richness and vitality with just the right amount of oak.
