Description
Patrick Javillier Meursault Les Tillets originates from a high altitude vineyard located just above the main premier cru slopes. This specific placement is defined by thin, stony soils that force the vine roots deep into the limestone bedrock. The resulting wine is known for its sharp focus and mineral drive, standing apart from the richer and heavier styles that are frequently associated with the wider appellation.
In the glass, it presents a pale gold colour. The aromatic profile is tightly wound in its youth, opening with precise notes of lemon zest, crisp green apple and white peach, followed by delicate floral elements. The oak maturation is handled carefully, adding only a quiet background note of hazelnut and subtle spice without obscuring the primary fruit.
On the palate, it is medium bodied and confidently structured. A core of vibrant acidity defines the wine, providing tension and energy. This freshness cuts cleanly through the concentrated stone fruit flavours, leading to a long, precise and notably saline finish. The typical Meursault breadth is present but remains tightly controlled by the underlying mineral framework.
This is a serious, terroir driven white Burgundy that requires patience. While the purity of the fruit is evident now, the structure demands time in the bottle to fully integrate. It will benefit from at least three to five years of cellaring and serves as an excellent pairing for roasted poultry or firm white fish in classic butter sauces.
