Description
A sweet and smokey single cask single malt whisky from Ardmore Distillery. Matured for 12 years in a refill bourbon barrel and finished in Oloroso Sherry.
The label is a nod to the distillery's heritage. Ardmore fired its stills directly with coal from 1898 until 2001, making it the second-last distillery in Scotland to stop, just ahead of GlenDronach in 2005.
Subtle sweet smoke on the nose gives way to a leathery, waxy richness, layered with fresh baking spices from the sherry cask. The palate is complex, offering fresh lavender, vibrant red fruits and a hint of banana peel, and it culminates in a sweet, smoky and satisfyingly warming finish.
