Description
Ichiro’s Malt Chichibu The Peated 2026 is the first release of heavily peated single malt at 50 phenolic parts per million (PPM) since 2022. It is a combination of around 40 casks, mostly ex-bourbon barrels with a portion of oloroso sherry casks used along with re-coopered hogsheads. The whisky is elegant and smoky with a gentle sweetness and resinous finish.
The majority of the Chichibu Distillery production is unpeated spirit but for around one month every year it produces peated new make spirit made from malted barley peated to 50PPM. This whisky is usually used as a component in various products and very occasionally released as a standalone expression.
