Dario Serrentino's Il Mortellito is a leading figure in Sicily's natural wine movement, meticulously farming limestone-rich vineyards in Noto to produce wines of crystalline purity. The 2025 vintage saw the region's characteristic radiant heat tempered by cooling maritime winds, resulting in exceptionally vibrant fruit with an elegant, light-footed structure.
Comprising 75% Frappato and 25% Nero d'Avola, Cala Niuru offers an expressive bouquet of wild strawberry, pomegranate, and delicate violet notes. The palate is wonderfully fresh and energetic, showcasing crunchy red berries and a distinct saline minerality. Fine, supple tannins and a zesty acidity create a lift that carries through to a clean, persistent finish. This is a superbly drinkable red that beautifully captures the soul of south-eastern Sicily.
