Named in honour of the estates founder who was the 221st player to wear a Springboks jersey, the 2022 Alvi's Drift 221 Pinotage hails from the sun drenched Worcester region of South Africa. To maintain vibrancy, seventy percent of the wine is fermented in stainless steel, while thirty percent ages in French oak barrels. The result is a highly captivating red offering soft aromas of bramble, red cherries and dark chocolate. On the palate, fresh red fruit flavours are supported by beautifully structured tannins, leading to a long finish with a lingering smokey note. This charming Pinotage pairs perfectly with roasted meats and vegetables served with rich barbecue or teriyaki sauces.
